Mandy Gutmann-Gonzalez is a Chilean poet working at the intersections of text, image, archive, and translation. They are the author of La Pava (Ediciones Inubicalistas) and A/An (End of the Line Press) and teach creative writing at Clark University. Their textile poems explore ideas of illegibility, backwardness, power, and feminized labor during the Salem witch trials, documenting the voices of young girl accusers (“the afflicted”) using a medium familiar to them: the cross-stitched sampler.
