Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joan Weinzettle moved west in the mid-eighties to finish a degree in textiles at California College of the Arts (then CCAC in Oakland, California). She has lived in Los Angeles for over thirty years exhibiting her work in galleries and artist run spaces beginning in 2009 and continuing to the present. She works in a variety of media often using thread and recycled paper.
